Memorial Day Weekend got off to an exciting start for the Boston Red Sox on Friday night.

The Red Sox kicked off their holiday weekend series against the Minnesota Twins with a special bobblehead night for pitching legend Roger Clemens, who won three AL Cy Young awards and an AL MVP trophy during his 13 seasons with Boston from 1984 to 1996.

Clemens was in attendance for the event and threw out the first pitch to his son, Kody, who plays for the Twins.

The Red Sox jumped out to a fast start against Minnesota with four runs in the bottom of the first inning.

This is the first time the Minnesota Twins have swept the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park in 32 years, dating back to June 13-15, 1994.
It was so long ago that Roger Clemens was pitching for the Red Sox.

Unfortunately for Boston, it was all downhill from there. The Red Sox blew their lead and lost the game en route to getting swept by the Twins for the first time since 1994, back when Roger was still pitching for Boston.

His son, Kody, played a significant role in the sweep with three hits and an RBI during the series, helping Minnesota win all three games at Fenway.

After an off day on Monday, the Red Sox will try to bounce back this week against the Atlanta Braves and snap their bizarre skid at Fenway.
