Good morning, Broncos Country!

Troy Aikman is arguably the best color commentator in the NFL right now.

He’s also part of arguably the best duo to do NFL games right now with his longtime partner, Joe Buck. They make up the lead Monday Night Football broadcast team.

The two will call the Denver Broncos season opener against the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium.

The Broncos are coming off a remarkable, yet gut-punch of a season. Denver finished with an AFC-best 14-3 record, AFC West champs, and the No. 1 seed. Kansas City is coming off a season that saw Patrick Mahomes tear up his knee and not make the playoffs. It was the first time in nine seasons the Chiefs didn’t win the AFC West.

Payton told reporters after the second rookie minicamp practice that there is a “good chance” we see Nix on the field in some capacity for June’s minicamp practices, but they will play it safe with him. He also added that Nix will be full-go in July and be ready well ahead of the start of training camp.

It’s that injury to Nix that still feels like a punch to the nose and a kick to the groin.

“With Denver, you could argue that they were a quarterback injury away from making it to the Super Bowl. It’s unfortunate for that organization, but what a great job Sean Payton has done.”

The Hall of Fame QB then talked about the season opener.

“To kick that off Week 1 in a divisional game, I always liked that as a player to open against a divisional opponent. It kind of helps set the tone in what is a very competitive division.”
