Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce has finally explained why he didn’t attend the New York Knicks’ NBA Finals run with Taylor Swift at MSG.
Weeks before Kelce and Swift got married at Madison Square Garden, the Knicks were dominating the city after winning an NBA title for the first time in 53 years.
Every celebrity was trying to get their hands on tickets, including Swift, who attended Game 4 with the Haim sisters. But where was Kelce?
Travis Kelce reveals why he couldn’t attend an NBA Finals game with Taylor Swift
Kelce spoke to the media after practice during training camp on Wednesday, revealing he couldn’t attend the NBA Finals with his wife because he was in the middle of an offseason mini-camp.
“I always told myself I’d go for a playoff game when the [New York] Knicks were rocking. My wife went when I was stuck in a mini-camp. I didn’t get my opportunity to go then.”
Kelce got his wish to be inside MSG after all, as he and Swift had a private wedding ceremony with over 1,000 reported guests in attendance at the iconic sports venue.
“It was cool to live out my childhood dream of being in that venue, the Mecca of all sports venues. To be able to get married there. I thank the owners of MSG for allowing us to get the opportunity to do that, knowing that we wanted a private event, and it was perfect.”
Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift did watch one Knicks Playoff game
Kelce and Swift might not have watched the Knicks’ Finals games together, but they did attend an Eastern Conference Finals game in Cleveland.

Kelce and Swift were in attendance for Game 3 of the ECF between the Cavaliers and Knicks, attending the game in Cleveland’s Rocket Arena instead of at MSG.
Kelce grew up as an Ohio native and was watching the clash as a Cavaliers fan. Unfortunately, he had to watch his team lose as Knicks fan Swift could be seen smirking at the outcome.
Whether Kelce will be able to attend a meaningful Knicks Playoff game again remains to be seen, as he will first focus on the 2026 NFL season and gauge if it’s the final one of his incredible career.
