Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Liam Coen gave an injury update on two-way player Travis Hunter after the opening day of mandatory minicamp.
Coen said Hunter was clocked at 22.6 miles per hour ahead of the team's June 9 practice as he continues his recovery process from the season-ending LCL injury he suffered during his rookie season.
"I’ve got to give a lot of credit to our strength staff, athletic training, sports science," Coen said of Hunter's recovery. "They've just kept him—not motivated because he motivates himself—but they've kept it creative for him.
"The drills, the way that they're pushing him and challenging him and then he goes into the video room with each side of the ball and he's able to get a ton of reps in there."

Coen spoke about Hunter a few weeks ago, noting that he's continuously worked in the virtual practice room this offseason. It has allowed him to stay current with what the team is doing as he misses on-field reps during offseason workouts.
Though he's not taking physical reps, he's still a very active participant of practice. Hunter spent time with cornerbacks and receivers during the first mandatory minicamp practice, joining huddles and taking mental reps from behind the action. Still, there's nothing quite like seeing Hunter on the field, according to Coen.
"Watching him run around this morning, hit 22.6 was pretty fun to watch," he said.
Travis Hunter’s season ended prematurely last year after having surgery on his right knee. He hurt it during practice ahead of Jacksonville’s Week 9 game against the Las Vegas Raiders and was shut down for the year afterwards.
Hunter is expected to be a limited participant in on-field activities during the offseason. He should be a full participant on the field by the time training camp begins in late July.
Yes, the Jaguars are planning for Hunter to play on both sides of the ball.
Hunter had 324 offensive snaps, 162 on defense, and three on special teams for a total of 489 plays. He averaged 46.2 offensive plays, 23.1 defensive plays and 69.8 plays overall per game.
Hunter finished his rookie season with 28 catches for 298 yards and a touchdown on offense.
On defense, Hunter had 11 tackles, four assists and three passes broken up.
Hunter’s final game of his rookie season was the best performance he had last year. He recorded eight catches for 101 receiving yards and scored his first professional touchdown against the Los Angeles Rams in London during Week 7.
The current receiver room for the Jacksonville Jaguars includes Jakobi Meyers, Brian Thomas Jr., Parker Washington, Tim Jones, Chandler Brayboy, Michael Wortham, CJ Williams, Josh Cameron, Brady Boyd, Austin Trammell, Ben Patterso and Trebor Pena.
The current cornerback room for the Jacksonville Jaguars includes Montaric Brown, Jourdan Lewis, Jarrian Jones, Christian Braswell, Preston Hodge, Keni-H Lovely, Dane Jackson, Jabbar Muhammad and Devon Marshall.
