Maybe our interest in a deal like that means a couple decent centers might have said they would have interest in coming here for the minimum.
Hmm, after looking at the center free agents this looks unlikely. Thomas Bryant seems like the only one that might fit that bill.

The only way a trade for Harris makes sense for Ayton is if another team is in the trade and Ayton goes to the third team. Unless they think they can make some sort of twin towers work with Ayton and Embiid, but I doubt it.

If we are going to Destroy the second Apron, and they will take Ayton, let's get Embiid instead of Harris!:doi: (Stupid idea by me)

His numbers still look pretty good to me. We don’t need him to do much more than 3 & D and he was still a plus defender last year.

I don't know that he's ever been a plus defender. I'm not saying he's terrible on that end but I don't think he's good either.

To me, Harris is just... a guy, a middle of the road forward.

I'd rather have Ayton.

Since the 76ers have no interest in trading for Ayton, the Suns reportedly want Philadelphia to get another team involved in a trade so they can get Tobias Harris.

The 76ers are said to be unwilling.

Even if we want to, I am not sure there is a deal trading Ayton that makes us better. The problem is getting a good enough Center in the deal that makes less than Ayton is very difficult, because most teams don't want to spend big money on a Center and would rather keep an adequate one at a lower cost than Ayton and spend the money on a more skilled perimeter player

"However, the Phoenix Suns, Utah Jazz, and Dallas Mavericks joined the previously mentioned Cleveland Cavaliers, Indiana Pacers, and Detroit Pistons as teams making inquiries about the 30-year-old’s availability (Embid), according to sources."

We would be trading for a 30 year old with a history of injury! No way I want him on my team. You know he's going to miss time with injury. He will be washed up at the end of his contract! :sarcasm:

Lol. Well, we aren’t shy. Maybe ishbia is secretly a warlock. How that exploration can even occur is beyond me.

Yeah, Gambo is doubling down about the Suns keeping Ayton.

ON PHNX Podcast yesterday, they mocked Gambo by saying, "Breaking News! Suns will keep DA. Unless they get a good deal." LOL! Way to hedge your bets Gambo!

I do think the Suns presently have the mindset to keep Ayton after thoroughly exploring the trade market so I will give Gambo some slack on this one. No one can predict the future.

The fifth starter and bench is more of a concern for me now. Craig seems to be the guy at the moment.

I was saying in another thread, the window for us to get multiple guys for Ayton is open until the 30th. That's the only scenario that makes any sense. If you are trading Ayton, who is that fourth starter, for two guys that fill that fourth and fifth roles, that makes sense. However, 98.7 went through all the teams in the NBA, and teams previously mentioned have either had guys play better, like Myles Turner, or went out and got guys in the meantime, etc. No one is really pursuing looking for a center in the NBA right now. I think we have four guys counting DA, and it may be we look for vet min guys, or long shot trading Payne for a fifth guy.

I know some fans have given up on Darius Bazley, but I think with some serious coaching, he could give the Suns what Trey Lyles gives to the Kings.

Bazley is athletically gifted, but he needs to be coached up. I thought he was a steal at #23 in the 2019 draft. Monty didn't have much patience developing young players.

Meh. Those guys wish they had his connections. They also took what he said out of context and tried to oversimplify what he said.

Other insiders/podcasters were dropping “bombs” saying “significant interest” which is the opposite of what Gambo was saying even if he is leaving the window open. Why would Gambo go out on a limb and guarantee something if there is still a chance? That’s for “insiders/podcasters” to do.

Monty had zero patience with anyone he didn't like, for whatever reason it might have been. That led to his erratic rotations and substitution patterns from game to game, or even within the same game. And I'm sure that also didn't help players to perform at their best, or to have the best morale, either.

Tobias Harris’ agent (who also is his dad) says the sixers use Harris wrong. Complaining that he shouldn’t be a lesser option on their team.

Trading for him would be a big mistake.

That’s a stupid criticism, every player is tradeable if someone calls up with a great offer.

Pretty sure he is correct, he is capable of doing more, he did so before they traded for him, but his role with the suns would be about the same as it’s been with the Sixers.

I'm just hoping Ayton couldn't stand Monty and his play was effected.
I mean his first few seasons he was doing good. Those first few games will tell us all we need to know

The Suns do have a $5 million trade exception from the Saric/Bazley trade. However, they have no draft picks to use. They do have $1.5 million in cash which can be used to bring a single player back.

Theoretically, the Suns could also use the rights Toumani Camara to use in trade.

Every player who is not a number one option is capable of doing more on any given team. The question is whether that is THE GUY you want to do more. For instance, Mikal could co more if he was not playing 3rd fiddle behind Book and CP3. But what are you going to do? Demote Book?
