The Toronto Blue Jays'injuries haven't been limited to just the major league roster this season.

Several of the team's top prospects, including top 100 shortstop Arjun Nimmala, has missed time this season due to injuries.

Another player that has been plagued with injuries is right-handed pitching prospect Ricky Tiedemann (No. 4 team prospect per MLB Pipeline).

The left-handed pitcher missed all of 2025 and most of 2024 due to Tommy John surgery, but he entered spring training seemingly ready to being 2025 with a clean slate.

Tiedemann was extended a non-roster invite to spring training, but experienced elbow soreness which delayed his ramp up to game action again.

The 23-year-old southpaw appeared on his way to returning and made two starts on a rehab assignment with the Florida Complex League Blue Jays. He posted a 4.50 ERA and struck out four batters in two innings pitched.

Tiedemann was moved up on his rehab assignment to the Single-A Dunedin Blue Jays and was scheduled to make an appearance as a reliever Tuesday.

Despite being scheduled to make a rehab appearance, Tiedemann didn't make an appearance in the game due to unannounced reasons.

Dunedin lost 3-1 to the Tampa Tarpons and the team had two pitchers throw at least three innings. There's a chance that due to the close nature of the game and the organization wanting to be deliberate in his rehabilitation that they were looking for a more ideal situation to get Tiedemann into the game.

Tiedemann was picked in the third round of the 2021 MLB Draft out of Golden West Junior College. He's been regarded as one of the most talented pitchers in the Blue Jays organization, but injuries have delayed what once seemed an inevitable appearance in the major leagues.

The most games Tiedemann has started in a season was 18 in his first minor league season in 2022. He started 15 the next season and has started a total of 10 from 2024-26.

Tiedemann reached Triple-A his second year in the minors in '23. His best season was his first in '22, where he posted a 2.17 ERA and struck out 117 hitters in 78.2 innings pitched across his 18 outings with Dunedin, the High-A Vancouver Canadians and Double-A New Hampshire Fisher Cats.

Due to Tiedemann's injuries, there could be a chance that Toronto opts to bring him up as a reliever rather than a starter. If that's the route the team chooses to follow, he could finally make the major league debut that seemed right on the horizon after his first full professional season.
