Serie A referee Maurizio Mariani made a controversial decision in Sunday’s 2-2 draw between Torino and Inter Milan.

Despite initially waving play on, Maurizio Mariani eventually penalized Carlos Augusto’s handball after receiving a call from the VAR booth.

Indeed, he changed his mind after reviewing the incident, allowing Nikola Vlasic to rescue a draw for the Granata.

However, Mariani’s decision was dubious, to say the least, as the ball struck Augusto’s arm from close range.

In fact, the Nerazzurri defender had no time to react, making the call feel particularly harsh in the context of the incident.
