SPRINGFIELD–Kickapoo, Strafford, Nixa, and Logan-Rogersville High Schools — the four No. 1 seeds in the annual Blue & Gold, Pink & White boys and girls basketball tournaments had no issue beating their opening round opponents on Friday.
Kickapoo and Strafford, the top seeds at the 14th Annual Pink & White Lady Classic won their games using a furious first quarter to build large leads, combining to outscore the opposition, 159-26.
Both the Lady Chiefs and Lady Indians advanced to Saturday’s second round, with Strafford taking on No. 8 seed Willard at 12:30, while Kickapoo faces Thayer at 5 p.m.
At the 80th Annual Blue and Gold Tournament, the Nixa Eagles and Logan-Rogersville Wildcats also blew away the foes in their path. The two teams combined to beat Fair Grove and Lebanon, 153-62. Nixa will take on Strafford at 9:30 a.m., on Saturday and Logan-Rogersville will tip off against Crane at 5 p.m.
