The Miami Marlins may be turning to one of their most intriguing young arms. Top pitching prospect Robby Snelling is rumored to be in line to make his MLB debut Friday night, as the Marlins sort through their rotation options. Snelling has been one of the top pitchers in the minor leagues this season and was thought to be big league ready even before the season began.

There were initially two candidates to fill the upcoming rotation spot: Snelling and Braxton Garrett. However, reports indicate Garrett is still expected to make his scheduled start for Triple-A Jacksonville. If that holds, it would take him out of the running for Friday, making Snelling the logical next man up.
The timing lines up perfectly. Snelling has been on a once-every-seven-days schedule, with his last start coming on May 1st. That puts him right in line for a Friday MLB debut.

Snelling, 22, was originally a first-round pick (No. 39 overall) and came to Miami from the San Diego Padres in the trade that sent Tanner Scott the other way.
At the time, his stock had dipped slightly. Since then? He’s bounced back in a big way. Now ranked among the top 100 prospects in baseball, Snelling looks like a pitcher who has figured things out.
