Mark Pope isn’t slowing down on the recruiting trail. He and the coaching staff have crisscrossed the country watching games on the AAU circuits.
The Cats have offered nearly 20 players since the live period began earlier this month. One of those recruits is a new name for Kentucky fans to watch: Moussa Kamissoko, who announced an offer from Kentucky this week.
Kamissoko is already viewed as one of the best prospects in the 2027 class, ranking as high as No. 4 overall at Rivals and first among small forwards.
Moussa Kamissoko has major two-way potential
At 6-foot-8 with long arms, Kamissoko is one of the best defensive wings in the entire class. He has excellent timing on blocked shots, has quick enough feet to stay in front of guys his size, and enough bounce to challenge shots and recover on smaller guards who get by.
But he also plays at all 3 levels on the offensive end, he has a good-looking jump shot, and plays above the rim with ease. This is against high school competition, and he is still gaining weight and fitting into his frame at just over 180 pounds, but the potential is there for him to become a really good two-way player in college.
He handles the ball well for his size, but he won’t be confused for a point forward currently. But with his dribbling ability, I could see him developing into a nice ball handler at the college level.
As usual with one of the best players in the country, the Cats will have a lot of competition for his signature, with Alabama, Illinois, and Louisville already on his offer sheet. The New York native has a lot of talent, and the Cats are looking to make sure he brings it to Lexington. He is #11 in the video below.
