Hmmm..all-time NFL blunders.

GM Mike Ditka trading all (?) of his draft picks for the right to draft Ricky Williams.

Buddy Ryan declares "We have a winner in town".

PHI trades players and picks for Hershel Walker.

I really cant think of any good ones right now.

On October 12, 1989, the Vikings acquired Herschel Walker from Dallas for Isaac Holt, David Howard, Darrin Nelson, Jesse Solomon, Alex Stewart, a first-round choice in 1992, conditional 1st-round choices in 1990 and '91, conditional 2nd-round choices in 1990, '91 and '92, and a conditional 3rd-round choice in 1992. The final result of the trade gave the Vikings Walker, a 3rd (Mike Jones), 5th (Reggie Thornton) and 10th-round choice (Pat Newman) in 1990 and a 3rd-round choice in 1991 (Jake Reed), while Dallas received all 5 players, a 1st, 2nd and 6th-round choice in 1990, a 1st and 2nd-round choice in 1991 and a 1st, 2nd and 3rd-round choice in 1992.

got to be one of the worst...

The Cards drafting Joe Namath and not signing him letting Broadway Joe go over to the AFL.

Buddy Ryan.

After the 1998 playoff run we let Larry Centers, Jamir Miller And Lomas Brown leave without anything to show for it.

Firing Gene Stallings

Drafting Kelly Stoufer without being ablke to sign the number one pick who refused to play for us. We get Zilch, Zero, Notta! Never turned into anything but we could have had any one of 5 players that were number one picks behind us.

I can't remember his name but he was on drugs when we got him from Washington. A DE guy that Bugle wanted.

Coming to Arizona from St. Louis on a hand shack fior a stadium and someones word that they could overprice the tickets.

I could go on and on. Things have really changed around here in the last 18 years!

Minnesota trading all those picks for Hershel Walker.

Snyder spending all that cash to bring in Steve Spurier.

Lions hiring Matt Millen and keeping him on for so long.

Cleveland letting the Browns leave and missing out on a Super Bowl win.

LA not having a NFL team.

Ditka trading his entire draft for Ricky Williams

Eagles signing Terrell Owens and thinking they could keep him under control

Picking Ryan Leaf

Brian Bosworth 'The Bos' -got schooled by Bo Jackson

Jerome Bettis - fumble on the goal line - got away with it because of Rothlesberger's tackle...but if that guy ran it back, it would have been the worst play ever.

Scott Norwood - Shanked kick

Bills- every pick they've had for the last 2 years...what are they thinking?

Raiders let Coach Gruden go

Eagles thinking they can change TO, now Dallas thinks the same...fools

Redskins -signing Deion Sanders and about 4 other top players that provided them with a losing record and a cap number that haunted them for years and years...they still don't learn...signing Archuleta to a huge contract.

not going to like this one... Cards let Simeon Rice go all because he called them 'the armpit of the NFL' and GOT NOTHING...he's been in the top 5 for sacks for the past umpteen years. Here's to being sensative...fools.

that's all I got for now

I still maintain that this wasn't as bad a move as people make it out to be.

  • The Vikings got the player they originally wanted in Williams and he is clearly better than either Leftwich or Sullivan.

Smith was our best rusher in the last 7 years here.

    No way these are blunders.

Dude, not getting your pick in ontime IS a blunder! It doesn't matter if they eventually got their guy. That was my point

Ricky Williams agent selection and his "performance-based" contract.

Ditto on the Herschel Walker trade. That set the Cowboys up to win super bowls.

David Boston throwing a potential HOF career out the window.

The NFL and NFLPA's failure to address ridiculous first round rookie contracts. These guys can be busts and have not done anything on the field. And it means that veterans earning midrange salaries are subject to being cut.

The "blackout" rule. I don't think it does anything to increase ticket sales and turns away potential fans that might not be able to afford tickets.

While maybe not a top 10 blunder in the NFL, I think that cutting Chris Gedney right after he was diagnosed with ulcerative collitis (sp?) was one of the top 10 blunders the Cards have made since relocating to Arizona.

I was glad that he got a second chance with the team, but I've always wonder how much of it was due to Mr. Bidwill trying to save some face.

Go Cards!!!
