Former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo was reportedly arrested in Milwaukee on suspicion of operating a vehicle while intoxicated, according to multiple reports.
WISN 12 News and WTMJ reported that Romo, 46, was arrested on Thursday, July 23 after he was unable to complete standard field sobriety tests. The Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office said Romo was stopped by police while traveling on a high-rise bridge on southbound I-43, per the outlets.
The incident reportedly occurred around 8 p.m. on Thursday, according to WISN.

Romo was taken into custody for alleged OWI and later released. According to the outlets, his next appearance in court is scheduled for Sept. 21.
According to WISN, Wisconsin law does not recognize a first-offense OWI as a criminal charge. The citation a first-offense OWI is generally a civil offense, not a criminal charge. The citation typically carries a fine ranging from $150 to $300.

Romo played for the Cowboys for 14 seasons before retiring in April 2017. He immediately joined CBS Sports as an analyst and continues to be a prominent member of the network’s NFL coverage.
