Florida Gators head coach Todd Golden has made a striking claim about his former star player, Walter Clayton Jr., as the 2025 NBA Draft approaches.
In a recent appearance on "Run It Back" on FanDuel TV, Golden asserted that Clayton Jr. is not only a top-tier talent but also surpasses many of the younger players projected to be selected in the top-10.
"I look at a guy like a Payton Pritchard right now in the NBA and the success that he's having. And, obviously I'm biased, but I think Walt's a little more dynamic," Golden declared, emphasizing Clayton Jr.'s potential at the next level.
Golden continued praising his former star player, stating, "I see some of these younger guys getting mocked in the top-10 and they're all great players, but Walter was better than these guys. He was just better."

Clayton Jr., a consensus first-team All-American in 2025, has demonstrated exceptional scoring ability and versatility during his senior season at Florida.
He led the Gators to a national championship in thrilling fashion, putting together masterclass after masterclass amid a gauntlet run.
His performances in the SEC Tournament and March Madness not only solidified his place in Gators' history but also positioned him as a highly anticipated prospect for the NBA.
As the draft nears, Golden's bold endorsement could influence how scouts and teams evaluate Clayton Jr., potentially elevating his draft stock.
With the coach's track record of leading the Gators to success, his assessment carries significant weight, making Clayton Jr. a name to watch in the upcoming draft cycle.
