The Yankees had a real chance to turn things around this week, pulling out a pair of dramatic wins to open up their four-gams series with the Blue Jays. But their offense laid an egg in the final two contests, scoring one run combined and having to settle for a split with Toronto. No matter, there’s now another chance to change the tone. The first-place Rays come to town tonight, and the Yankees have Gerrit Cole on the mound. It’s time to start chipping into Tampa Bay’s AL East lead.

With the big series with the Rays coming up, and Matt will get you prepped today with a preview of the three-game set. Later, Sam reviews Thursday night’s American League action, Sam writes up Tommy John as part of Yankees Birthday series, and Madison delivers the answers to this week’s mailbag.
