The talk of the sports world this past few months has been NIL and how it has affected the sports world, especially football.

The problem seems to be that many young athletes lack guidance and mentorship to provide them with quality information about what their next move should be.

But a former NFL star and his brother are providing these young athletes with valuable information that they could use later in their athletic careers.

TJ Ward, a three-time Pro Bowler and Super Bowl 50 Champion, and his brother, Terron Ward, are launching a free, three-day virtual summit for student-athletes nationwide called Next Level: The Roadmap for Student-Athletes, running June 28-30.

This summit will feature Ward, NFL greats Maurice Jones-Drew and current Buffalo Bills wideout Brandin Cooks, University of Arizona head coach Brent Brennan, and NIL expert Rex Kapland, all there to give parents and students advice on the changing climate in college athletics.

The brothers explain why it was important to them to host this summit.

"As former student-athletes, we realized there are so many lessons we wish someone had shared with us earlier. Recruiting, academics, finances, mental health, life after sports -there isn’t one place where families can hear directly from people who’ve lived it. We created Next Level to give student-athletes the roadmap we didn’t always have," said Terron Ward.

Brother TJ agreed. "Football opened a lot of doors for me, but success wasn’t just about talent—it was about discipline, preparation, and having the right people around me. We wanted to bring together athletes, coaches, and leaders who can help the next generation make better decisions and avoid unnecessary mistakes.

Both brothers say they think it's important that student-athletes have accurate information to make the best decisions for their futures.

"If one kid avoids a bad decision, finds the right mentor, or gains confidence because of something they heard during this summit, it’s a success. We want student-athletes to realize they’re building a life, not just a sports career," TJ Ward said.
