For the third time in less than a month, Hawaii sophomore Kristian Titriyski was named the Big West Offensive Player of the Week today.
The 6-foot-8 opposite hitter from Sofia, Bulgaria, has helped No. 2 Hawaii go 6-0 since he returned to the starting lineup to start conference play.
Titriyski led the Rainbow Warriors averaging 4.50 kills per set while hitting .333 in road wins over No. 5 UC Irvine last weekend.
He led the team in kills in both matches and on Saturday had a season-high 20 kills in a three-set sweep of the Anteaters.
He had 15 kills in the first two sets of that match while hitting .600.
Teammate Tread Rosenthal earned the Big West Setter of the Week award for a sixth consecutive week and 10th time overall this season.
The 6-foot-11 junior from Austin, Texas, averaged 11.38 assists in two matches against UC Irvine and directed an offense that hit .367.
He fell one kill short of a triple-double in Friday’s win with 53 assists, 10 digs, a career-high tying nine kills and six blocks.
Hawaii hit .453 in Saturday’s win with Rosenthal recording 38 assists, four digs and four blocks.
The Rainbow Warriors have swept both No. 3 Long Beach State and No. 5 UC Irvine on the road for the first time since joining the Big West.
Hawaii (23-3, 6-0) can clinch the No. 1 seed in the Outrigger Big West Men’s Volleyball Championship as soon as Friday with a win over UC San Diego and a Long Beach State loss.
UH plays the Tritons (11-11, 2-5) on the road twice this week and closes the regular season at home against Cal State Northridge (12-10, 0-6) next week.
