At the beginning of the offseason, the Tennessee Titans had the most available cap space of any team in the NFL. This was a good thing considering all of the changes and adjustments that needed to be made during the offseason. The Titans started out by doing a complete overhaul on the coaching staff, and bringing in experienced coaches and coordinators to develop their young talent.

Once the coaching staff was in place, the organization wasted no time in bringing in the pieces they thought would be beneficial to the team's rebuilding process. In doing so, the Titans spent more money than any other team on free agents.

Total free agent spending: $319.8 millionNumber of free agents signed: 20Most expensive free agent signing: DL John Franklin-Myers (Three years, $63 million with $42 million fully guaranteed)It's a New York reunion in Nashville! New Tennessee Titans head coach Robert Saleh, formerly the head coach of the New York Jets, and new Titans offensive coordinator Brian Daboll, formerly the head coach of the New York Giants, convinced the franchise that they can make a New England Patriots-like leap with a similar spending spree. In 2025, the Patriots spent an NFL-record $364 million in free agency, and they made it to the Super Bowl.

The Titans are now trying to do the same after surrounding 2025 first overall pick quarterback Cam Ward with talent on both sides of the ball. The largest deals went to defensive tackle John Franklin-Myers, wide receiver Wan'Dale Robinson and cornerback Alonte Taylor. Franklin-Myers inked a three-year deal. He and three-time Pro Bowler Leonard Williams are the only defensive tackles with at least seven sacks and 15 quarterback hits in each of the last two seasons.

Taylor signed a three-year, $60 million contract, averaging $20 million per year with $42 million fully guaranteed, and he is first cornerback since DeAngelo Hall (2010-13) with 75-plus tackles and 10-plus passes defended in three consecutive seasons. Taylor has totaled 247 tackles, seven sacks, four interceptions and 41 passes defended since 2023. Robinson inked a four-year, $70 million contract with $38 million fully guaranteed. His hands are dependable: Robinson's 2.29% drop rate was the 10th-lowest in the NFL in 2025 among 49 players with at least 90 targets. Robinson also has plenty of downfield burst. He had a career year with his first 1,000-yard season (1,014) while averaging over 10 yards per reception (11.0) for the first time in four seasons in 2025.

It will be intriguing if these familiar New York faces are enough to help Ward lift the Titans back to the postseason for the first time since the 2021 season.

It's true, the Titans acquired several faces from the New York Giants, but they also brought in big names like John Franklin-Myers to bolster the defense.

Between their spending during free agency and the players they acquired in the draft, the Titans are almost an entirely new team in 2026. There are still some key familiar faces like Calvin Ridley and Jeffery Simmons, but Mike Borgonzi brought in some young veterans on both sides of the ball who will be great mentors to the young players the Titans are rebuilding around.

The Titans still have over $49 million in cap space to work with in 2026. They'll likely want to roll some of that into 2027, but if they need to acquire another piece or two, they still can. We'll see this fall if all of the spending they've done was worth it.
