The Tennessee Titans may have started their quiet period before kicking off training camp, but that doesn’t mean that general manager Mike Borgonzi has gone on vacation. In fact, he already addressed one of the lingering questions in this offseason.
On Friday, Borgonzi and the Titans agreed to a three-year $105.8 million contract extension ($100 million guaranteed) with star defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons, making him the highest-paid defensive tackle in NFL history.
Simmons was dominant in 2025 and had a career season, proving once again that he is the most valuable member of the organization. He set career highs in sacks, tackles for loss, and forced fumbles while leading the NFL in multiple categories. He finished 2025 by being named AFC Defensive Player of the Month for December, an All-Pro, and was named to the Pro Bowl. He made such an impact that he should have been in the conversation for the NFL Defensive Player of the Year.
Even coming off his best season in Nashville, there is reason to believe he could be even better in 2026 and beyond in Robert Saleh’s scheme, which should allow him even more opportunities to make impact plays, especially with an upgraded surrounding cast along the defensive front.
Now that Simmons is locked up, the Titans will likely turn their attention to working out an extension with starting guard Peter Skoronski. Borgonzi pointed to that possibility early in the offseason and named it one of his top priorities.
