In the days following his sit-down with Michael Strahan and the revelation of his heartbreaking diagnosis of ALS, Tennessee Titans legend Chris Johnson took to social media in an attempt to bring back the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge to raise awareness of this devastating disease.
After multiple weeks of activities in which many former teammates, journalists, fans, and personalities heard the call and accepted the challenge, many wondered when, or if, the Titans’ organization would follow through.
Now, days after announcing that Johnson will be inducted into the Ring of Honor at Nissan Stadium, and on the day veterans report to training camp, members of the organization, including owner Amy Adams Strunk, general manager Mike Borgonzi, and head coach Robert Saleh, took part in the challenge in support of their former star.
Strunk finished off the challenge saying, “We’re doing the challenge in support of our friend and teammate Chris Johnson. We’re thinking of him and his family and can’t wait to see him at our first game of the season when we induct him into the Titans Ring of Honor.”
This was followed by Saleh stating, "We now challenge all other teams in the NFL, and across the entire football world, to join us in raising awareness for ALS research; you guys are next."
This is a small tribute to Johnson, who played 10 NFL seasons and spent six incredible seasons with the Titans, including his magical season in which he became one of nine running backs ever to record more than 2,000 rushing yards in a single season. He is set to be inducted into the Titans' Ring of Honor when the team opens the 2026 regular season against the New York Jets on Sept. 13.
