As the reality of the heartbreaking news of Tennessee Titans legend Chris Johnson’s ALS diagnosis continues to set in, a deep sadness can be felt across the NFL landscape, especially in Nashville, where Johnson made a lasting imprint on a community and an organization.
His impact is not lost on Titans owner Amy Adams Strunk, who released a statement on Johnson’s devastating diagnosis moments after the former star running back sat down with Michael Strahan on Good Morning America and revealed the tragic news that he is battling ALS at the young age of 39.
“Some people leave a mark on a organization that you just can’t put into words,” Strunk said. “Chris Johnson is one of those people for us. His leadership on the field, in addition to his impact in the locker room and Nashville community have written him permanently into the story of this franchise.”
There is no doubt that fans remember the explosive back and 2009 NFL Offensive Player of the Year breaking off game-changing runs in his quest for a 2,000-yard season, en route to etching his name in NFL history, and this devastating diagnosis has left them saddened and stunned by the debilitating effects of Lou Gehrig’s disease (ALS).
And, as Strunk said in her statement, everyone will hold Johnson and his family in their hearts and support them in every way during this journey.
