The Tennessee Titans made a move early in free agency to add punter Tommy Thompson to the roster to replace Johnny Hekker, and now Hekker will be moving on.

NFL Insider Ian Rapoport reports that the 14-year veteran has signed with the Minnesota Vikings for 2026.

Known more for placement than a booming leg, Hekker had a solid season in 2025 with the Titans, punting 78 times for a 46.8-yard average and placing 22 inside the 20-yard line, and was a significant factor in the rejuvenation of the Titans’ special teams units.

Hekker broke into the league with the Los Angeles (St. Louis) Rams in 2012 under the tutelage of Titans’ special teams coordinator John Fassel and developed into one of the most accomplished punters in NFL history, and was named to the league's All-Decade Team for the 2010s. He will now take his consistency and talents to the Vikings on a one-year deal.
