The No. 1 seed Auburn Tigers' run in the NCAA Tournament will continue this weekend when it faces the No. 5 seed Michigan Wolverines in the Sweet 16 at State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia.
Auburn won its first two games of March Madness in Rupp Arena in Lexington over No. 16 seed Alabama State and No. 9 seed Creighton to advance to the Sweet 16. In its most recent game, freshman guard Tahaad Pettiford scored 23 points off the bench in the Tigers' 82-70 win over Creighton on Saturday night with Chad Baker-Mazara following suit with 17 points. Auburn saw a giant increase in its free-throw percentage in the game jumping to 71% makes compared to succeeding on just 56% attempts in its round of 64 win over Alabama State last Thursday. Auburn also committed five fewer turnovers in its win over the Blue Jays.
Michigan fought off Cinderella-hopeful UC-San Diego in round one, 68-65, before beating Texas A&M on Saturday, 91-79. The Wolverines erased a four-point halftime deficit by outscoring Texas A&M, 56-40 in the second half of Saturday's tilt in Denver, Colorado. The Aggies led by as many as 10 points with less than 14 minutes left in the second half before a pair of Rodney Gale Jr. free throws pushed Michigan ahead, 71-70, with 6:08 remaining, thus kickstarting the comeback effort.

Auburn and Michigan boast a top-15 defense according to KenPom. Auburn's defense ranks No. 12 while Michigan is next in line at No. 13. Both teams rank in the top-20 of the KenPom, with Auburn holding the advantage on offense at No. 2 compared to Michigan's No. 39-ranked offense. According to ESPN's Basketball Power Index, Auburn has a 47% chance to advance to the Elite Eight while Michigan has a 21% chance to continue their season.
The winner of Auburn vs. Michigan will face either Ole Miss or Michigan State for a chance to compete in the Final Four.
