No running. No lifting. Just sparring.

It might sound crazy to some, but Tim Elliott says he's already reaping the benefits of cutting traditional strength and conditioning out of his preparation for UFC Fight Night 275.

"I did my camp completely different this time," Elliott said at a pre-fight news conference (h/t Amy Kaplan MMA). "I completely cut out strength and conditioning, running, lifting. I didn't do any of that. I sparred. I sparred three or four times a week. I grappled live. I drilled hard. I thought maybe it was going to bother my cardio. But this is the first fight I've ever gone into where I'm not limping into the cage. I feel good, strong. I'm getting older but I've changed the way that I train. This is the least injured I've ever gone into a fight. Just sparring. Going hard. Going live. I'm not as banged up. I was killing myself doing two or three sessions a day. Now, I just go train hard once a day. I spar and go home and rest."

Elliott, 39, hopes the firsts in his training camp result in a different kind of first inside the cage. Despite having competed 21 times across two UFC stints, Elliott has yet to pick up a TKO or knockout. His last stoppage of that variation came in December 2011 against Jens Pulver at RFA 1.

Against Steve Erceg on Saturday's card at RAC Arena in Perth, Australia, Erceg hopes to end the streak.

"I haven't watched too much tape," Elliott said. "I watched him fight Brandon Moreno. I was in Mexico City for that. He's tough. He's well-rounded. I think he's really, really solid everywhere. He doesn't have the danger factor of the last guy I fought. It's a little bit of a weight off my shoulders, not having to worry about being head kicked or knocked out."

"... I'm looking for a knockout. I know everybody says that. I don't have a knockout yet in the UFC. But again, this camp was different. I wasn't taking guys down. I was beating guys' ass in the gym. So I'm going to try to do that."
