The Detroit Tigers on Monday activated second baseman Gleyber Torres from the 10-day injured list.
The Tigers optioned catcher Eduardo Valencia to Triple-A Toledo.
Torres has been out since June 16 with an oblique strain. Torres has appeared in just 43 games this season, hitting .280 with a .790 OPS in 190 plate appearances, with four home runs and 18 RBIs.
Valencia, 26, went 5 for 12 in six games with the Tigers, walloping a pair of home runs, including one in his first major-league at-bat.
The Tigers are opening a three-game series Monday night against the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field.
