Tiger Woods and his TGR Design firm have signed on to build a new layout, the Legacy Course, at Diamante Cabo San Lucas at the southern tip of the Baja Peninsula on the west coast of Mexico. Per plans officially released this week, the Legacy Course will be Woods’ third layout at the master-planned community to go along with the El Cardonal Course and the Oasis Short Course.

The Legacy Course will feature the most extensive inland water features of any course in the arid area, as announced in a media release, with five interconnected lakes, streams, cascades and waterfalls. Unlike many courses around Cabo San Lucas, the layout will feature thousands of trees and lush tropical landscaping, and most of the course will be surrounded by a man-made dune to boost the feeling of a private sanctuary.

It’s all part of the Legacy Club, a private, real estate owner-focused enclave within Diamante Cabo San Lucas with just 250 family memberships. Initiation fees will be $300,000 with annual dues estimated at $60,000 and access to the full slate of amenities at Diamante Golf Club. Members will have access to a modern wellness and fitness hub as well as a private beachfront recreation area at the Beach Club, among other amenities.

Legacy Golf Club will include a 16-acre practice facility, short-game area and a private clubhouse. The course is slated to open in early 2027.

"Legacy Course combines tournament-caliber strategy with an unforgettable visual experience," Woods said in the media release. "From drivable par 4s and long par 5s to deep bunkers, movement in the greens and dramatic water features including creeks, waterfalls and lakes, every element was designed to create a world-class golf experience that is both challenging and enjoyable. It will look and play unlike anything else at Diamante."

Diamante spreads across 1,500 acres and already is home to two full-size courses plus the Oasis Short Course. Diamante Dunes, designed by Davis Love III and opened in 2009, ranks No. 5 on the Golfweek’s Best list of courses in Mexico, the Caribbean, South America and the Atlantic Islands. The Woods-designed El Cardonal opened in 2014 and ranks No. 30 on that Golfweek’s Best rankings list. El Cardonal also is the site of the PGA Tour's World Wide Technology Championship.

Jason Lusk is Golfweek's travel and golf course architecture editor, as well as the magazine's creative director. He has written for and designed Golfweek for more than two decades.
