Tiger Woods is planning on going out of the United States to seek treatment following his arrest for DUI last week.

A judge April 1 approved Woods’ request to travel out of the country to start “comprehensive inpatient treatment,” according to court records. Martin County Court Judge Darren Steele approved the motion.

Woods, 50, was arrested March 27 by Martin County Sheriff’s deputies on misdemeanor DUI property damage and refusal to submit to urine test charges following a two-vehicle crash in Jupiter Island, Florida.

A not guilty plea was entered by his attorney Douglas Duncan, who also represented Woods in a 2017 DUI arrest case in Palm Beach County.

“Based upon the defendant’s treating physician, the out-of-country treatment facility recommendation is based upon the defendant’s complex clinical presentation and the urgent need for a level of care that cannot safely or effectively be done within the United States, as his privacy has been repeatedly compromised,” the motion states.

“Ongoing medical scrutiny and public exposure create significant barriers to his care and would result in setbacks and an inability to fully engage in treatment.”

The treatment facility wasn’t specified in the request motion, but it would “provide continuous monitoring and the ability to rapidly adjust treatment interventions in a highly controlled environment.”

Woods was released late March 27 on $1,150 bond from the Martin County Jail, a jail official has said.
