The Oklahoma City Thunder added two more future second-round picks to their bag, They sent veteran guard Aaron Wiggins to the Atlanta Hawks in exchange for second rounders in 2030 and 2032 NBA Draft. The move came after they failed to defend their 2025 championship, losing in Game 7 of the Western Conference finals.
The team drafted Wiggins at No. 55 in the second round in 2021. He initially played on a two-way contract, splitting time between the Thunder and Oklahoma City Blue. The Maryland product’s hard work paid off as the Thunder signed him to a standard deal worth $45 million for five years in 2024.

ESPN’s Shams Charania reported the development on Sunday on X.
Wiggins will give the Hawks more depth at the guard positions. He can play at the one and two spots, and will likely become a regular rotation piece. The 27-year-old’s championship experience will also benefit Atlanta’s relatively young core.

Oklahoma City continues to stock up on assets for future transactions. The team received a haul for Wiggins that adds to the 35 draft picks they currently own.
With the San Antonio Spurs dethroning the Thunder, they could trade for key pieces to further bolster their roster. The franchise has three first-round picks in this year’s draft. They could use them as bait to acquire proven veterans or rising stars.
