Three Dodgers Vulnerable to Upcoming Roster Moves

The Los Angeles Dodgers have a good deal of talent at their disposal, and while there can never be too much, the roster’s health improvement will require some tough decisions.

On the Dodgers injured list, there are two key position players — utility players Tommy Edman and **** Hernandez.

Pitching-wise, Tyler Glasnow, Blake Snell, Brusdar Graterol, Brock Stewart, Ben Casparius, Gavin Stone, Jack Dreyer, and Edwin Diaz are on the mend with different timelines for their return.

From the full injured list, there are a handful of players who will be returning in the late stages of May or early June, which means some of the current crop of talent will need to make way.

Here are three players with limited time left to make an impression, and they will be names that are top of mind when others get healthy.

Santiago Espinal​

Dodgers fans who were tuned in during spring training will never forget Santiago Espinal.

The righty was on a tear throughout, forcing the Dodgers to put him on the active roster as **** Hernandez and Edman nursed their injuries.

However, he is only hitting .216 over his 39 plate appearances, with no walks. When Hernandez gets healthy, which could be as soon as next week, Espinal will logically be the name to go with, Hyeseong Kim outplaying him on offense and defense.

Speaking of Kim, he has survived the return of Mookie Betts, making more of an impression than Alex Freeland, and he should get past the return of Hernandez as well.

However, when Edman is a full-go from his ankle injury, Kim and Call will be the two players who can be optioned down to the minor leagues.

Call has one more option year left on his contract, while Kim still has two option years left. This would factor into the Dodgers’ decision.

Also, Call is a right-handed bat for a team with a good number of lefties. It will be a tough decision, but Kim looks to be a bit on the outside looking in.

Regardless of what happens, Kim has established himself as a true major-leaguer with the ability to platoon and punish right-handed bats.

Paul Gervase​

Gervase is on the major league roster due to all of the injuries that have fallen on the pitching staff. He has struggled in OKC this year, with a 5.14 ERA in 10 appearances out of the bullpen.

The tall righty joined the Dodgers in 2025 from the Tampa Bay Rays, where he was good in the minor leagues and solid in the majors.

His time with the Dodgers in the minor leagues has not been fantastic, and until he finds some consistency on the mound, he won’t stick.

Still, he should get a few weeks to prove himself for the Dodgers
