This omen says the Blue Jays will be just fine this season originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
It's easy to forget now, but last season's Toronto Blue Jays didn't get off to a great start.
By late May, they were scuffling.
And by late October, they were pushing the defending champion Los Angeles Dodgers to the brink in the World Series.
Game 7 heartbreak ended the season in difficult fashion, but the Blue Jays had come a long way.
Their turnaround, at least in record, began statistically after May 28. That was pointed out by some Toronto sports accounts on social media on Thursday -- that same date.
Turns out, the Blue Jays aren't on that different of a pace:
On May 28, 2025 the Blue Jays had exactly 27 wins.
On May 28, 2026 the Blue Jays have exactly 27 wins.
You know what that means…

The Blue Jays better heat up soon, though, or it'll start to be a hole too big to dig out of.
It's worth acknowledging that this season started even earlier than last season, but still -- there's time for Toronto get hot.
Plenty in an AL East where the Tampa Bay Rays are dominant and the Yankees, Orioles (and even Red Sox) have a ton of talent doesn't make this easier.
But there's no point for the Blue Jays to waste time or mope here. They've been here before. Maybe they can dig out of it again.
