This draft is going to be fun. It’s so unpredictable anything could happen. Drafts when you can guess 25 picks out of 32 in round one don’t take much skill. If Ossenfort hits this one, the Cards have the right guy. People have been tough on him and it’s a killer learning curve, but this is a great final exam. Because there are so many role players, you have to give it time to see what they got. I’m fine with speculating; I will. Just understand we won’t have real answers until the season plays out. Buckle your seatbelts! Keep your hands inside the car.

Monti trading back would be a pretty bad look IMO because of what you say. Getting mid to later first round picks in this draft is a bit of a crap shoot. Adding riskier than usual picks is just a receipt for disaster. Look at his 2024 draft as reference. Traded back in round 2 to add round 3 picks in a top heavy draft and ended up acquiring several players who have not had much of an impact.

The big issue with your statement about Monti hitting in this draft is that unless the Cardinals will significantly more games this year than expected, he should not be given the ability to see how the picks play out 3 years from now. History says he will botch it but who knows.

I am sorry. The title is thinking positive.

I agree that I am excited to see how this draft shakes out with it's unique set up this year.

While Ime usually all for building the trenches unless Bailey is there We simply have to follow Denny Green's strategy "Really the only one in recent memory" that worked take the impact player and this year its Love. Denny wasnt the greatest coach but he built a Team that went to the Super who else can we say that for if you think about it Fitz, Boldin,Dockett, Campbell etc were Denny players may be wrong but Dansby may have been also Denny never traded down if memory serves me right

I will be happy with Love at 3 *or* a trade down that nets a RT and Simpson. Love brings excitement in the short to mid-term. A 10 year RT and potential QBOTF may be better in the long run.

Maybe but who knows the way this team operates the odds is we make the wrong choice or choices Shades of the Peterson, Brown and the Johnson,Pace or recently Anderson, PJJ ( although he is really good) linger long and hard in my Mind

No one player is going to turn around this season. Most say fix the o-line first, followed by Mangoilifafg isnt worth the #3 pick followed by don’t trade down.
If we were to draft Love is there a decent o-lineman in the 2nd or 3rd round? Does Love make you offensive lineman better?
The o-line under performed last year compared to 2024. Coaching? injuries? Scheme change? Does any team need to have 5 all pros on their o-line to be good?
If Simpson turned out to be Brock Purdy would that be good enough? Can ML develop Simpson to be Purdy? Could Love help Simpsons development. Does McCafferty help Purdy?
Is Bailey or Reese going to suddenly turn this defense into a power house?

No matter who we draft there’s a 50% chance they will suck. So let’s take the guy with the least chance at sucking.

Love.

I'm looking forward to the first three rounds of the draft especially with the Cards picking #3 in Rd 1, #2 in Rd2 and #1 in Rd 3. I think a lot of teams are gong to offer them multiple picks to trade up in any of these 3 rounds. It will be an exceeding draft to watch. They will get some solid starting players.

This. I hate the idea of a RB in round 1 but I think Love is that good.

I want J. Love...

I have kinda tied myself to the idea of getting Simpson with our second pick...by trading up with it or waiting to see of he drops all the way to 34...

But we need O-Line...34 is probably the farthest back we can go and still get an OT with the ability to become our starting RT sometime this season..

its a conundrum because it seems it must be either Love and Simpson, or Love and an RT...but not all three.

Im landing on,.. Love...trade up a bit from 34 and Grab Simpson in the late twenties... then use the first pick in the third round on a Guard,...or Center since Frodo can play Guard.
Its a tough gamble ....a good Lineman can make the guy next to him a little better....but the Guard would be a rookie so its not likely he makes a huge impact trying to assist RT,,best we can really hope for is a RG that the tackle doesnt need to help... the bright side is... JTT will be back and there is always ways to help a tackle , by adding in a TE,...or chip with the RB....and oh my,... Love is a very good blocker for a RB....so we take a pass on drafting a starting RT this year....truth is we all know the interior o line has been a bigger problem than the RT has.... that immediate pressure right up the middle was just killing us....I still have night terrors of playing Seattle.
But its even a bit of a gamble waiting to get an OG when expecting a starter...I think I would be happy with...
Love
Simpson
Dunker/Pregnon/Rutledge

gameplan to help the RT, while also hoping some of our previous investments start to show their development..a guy like Josh Jones should be ready to contribute.. he sat out last year until mid december so we didnt really get to see what he has to offer...a full off season to acclimate should show us if he has developed enough to be the RT..

if things are going badly...maybe hit the trade wire before the deadline for an OT if we think we really need to shore it up before giving Simpson a shot at starting

Wouldn't you need to use your 3rd rounder to move back up into the 1st round?

No... deals vary, but based on the 2026 nfl trade value chart... our 34 and fourth rounder are worth about 5 points more than Kansas Citys pick 29...then maybe we add in a 6th or 7th as a sweetener.
There are lots of ways to add value to the trade.Obviously if the want to move up around 26, it will take a bit more than just our fourth to facilitate the move... but you can get to "more" by adding later picks...or by adding players

Your last sentence is exactly my thought.
