Real Madrid Castilla player Thiago Pitarch has impressed first team head coach Alvaro Arbeloa after the tie against Benfica, according to a report from MARCA.
Thiago came on during the stoppage time of their first win over Benfica, before making his second appearance in the second leg of the tie — this time playing from the 84th minute.
The young Spaniard looked tidy in possession, and his off-ball movement was also good, receiving a lot of appreciation from fans online.
The performances have impressed Arbeloa, who always knew about his qualities, having promoted him to Castilla earlier this season.
Thiago could get more minutes in future games and could even become a first-team regular. He is, according to the report, expected to get his first start for the first team sooner rather than later.
With Dani Ceballos’ recent injury and Jude Bellingham’s long-term absence, Thiago will get more and more appearances for the first team, and it will be up to him to see how many of those chances he will take with both hands.
