It's trophy time in New Jersey lacrosse. Delbarton got things started on June 9, outlasting Seton Hall Prep in Non-Public A.

Up next are three public-school finals on June 12 and 13. Games will be played on two fields at The College of New Jersey, boys on the stadium turf and girls at the adjacent lacrosse facility.

Here's a quick look at the Morris/Sussex teams who have a chance at hardware.

Group 1 boys: Mountain Lakes vs. Rumson-Fair Haven, Friday, 4 p.m.

Familiar foes reunite in the boys Group 1 final. It's the fourth time Mountain Lakes and Rumson will face off since 2015, with two victories for the Shore team. The Lakers, however, have won 16 titles, second only to Delbarton (19) among boys teams – but none since 2022. Mountain Lakes (13-8) has played in 28 total finals, including the past 13 in a row dating back to 2013. This will be the Bulldogs' eighth appearance.

Bucknell-bound senior Holden Gillespie (62g, 26a) was presented with the game ball from the sectional final after becoming the Lakers' all-time points leader. However, junior attack Lawson Fagan (35g, 68a) has the most points for the second year in a row.

Senior Luke Lydon has 54 goals and 49 assists for Rumson (18-6), which comes into the final on a 12-game winning streak dating back to April 25. Joseph and Teddy Whitehouse, a senior and a sophomore, total 92 goals and 42 assists.

Group 2 boys: Sparta vs. Ocean City, Saturday, 11 a.m.

Senior Eddie Brown (52g, 20a, 20gb) a Mercyhurst signee, leads Sparta in scoring for the third straight year. He's bolstered by classmates Michael Pandiscia (25g, 38a, 22gb) and Marco Aquino (30g, 21a, 26gb), helping the Spartans average 10.1 goals per game.

Sparta (15-5) has won nine in a row, including the Hunterdon/Warren/Sussex title.

Junior Otter Donohue (41g, 24a, 14gb) and senior Jack Scherbin (36g, 19a, 20gb) are the top offensive threats for Ocean City (16-6). The Red Raiders average 10.4 goals per game but allow just 4.5, with junior Tim Windfelder stopping 75% of shots.

Ocean City lost to Chatham in the Group 3 final in 2021 on a goal scored in the final minute, its only appearance in the championship game. The Sparta boys have never played in a Group final.

Group 2 girls: Mendham vs. Manasquan, Saturday, 1:30 p.m.

Mendham (16-5) has won eight of their last nine, with the lone loss coming against Non-Public champion Kent Place. The Minutemen can score from everywhere – seniors Grace Monahan (50g, 30a, 36dc, 23gb) and Amelia Eichman (44g, 46dc, 21gb) and juniors Shea Shoulberg (38g, 74a), Cristiana Laracca (41g, 8a, 26gb) and Lexi Alofs (41g, 7a, 155dc, 34gb, 11ft) – averaging 13.1 goals per game.

Sophomore Chloe Stevens (60g, 9a, 109dc, 29gb, 12ft) leads Manasquan (11-8) both on the draw and near the net. The Warriors scored 10.7 goals and allowed 7.6.

Mendham has quite a championship history, but most of it isn't recent. The Minutemen played in all but one final after they were divided by Group, from 2007 to 2014 – winning three. Their most recent appearance was a Group 3 loss to Moorestown in 2019. Manasquan has played in one Group final, falling to Summit in 2022.
