Even the cheapest seat for Game 4 of the NBA Finals at Madison Square Garden carried the kind of price that made fans stop and stare.
The Knicks went into Wednesday’s clash with the San Antonio Spurs up 2-1 in the series, trying to move within one win of their first title since 1973.
Ticket prices were still enormous, even as the resale market cooled slightly from the record highs seen earlier in the week.

Knicks NBA Finals Game 4 cheapest ticket view sparks debate
Darren Rovell posted a photo from Section 414 just before tipoff, where the cheapest seat on offer was listed at $2,965.16.
Rovell framed the situation for fans: “You are a Knicks fan. Cheapest ticket, cheapest view for Game 4?”
It summed up the reality of this Finals run. Even the lowest-priced ticket was nearly $3,000, and it put you in the far reaches of the upper deck.
That was down from some earlier highs, but still well out of reach for most fans.
Madison Square Garden Finals prices stayed historically expensive
From the moment the Knicks reached their first Finals since 1999, the ticket market went wild.
Get-in prices for Game 3 were reported around $3,400 on some resale sites, with average sale prices well over $7,000.
Even after the Knicks lost Game 3, prices for Game 4 stayed high, helped by the fact New York was still ahead in the series and back at home.
Josh Hart admitted Knicks fans deserved cheaper seats
The debate was not limited to fans online.
Knicks forward Josh Hart had already said he wished tickets were more affordable, calling $7,000 to $8,000 prices “ridiculous” while still expecting MSG to be loud.
Game 5 is set for Saturday, June 13, in San Antonio. Depending on Game 4’s result, it could be a potential title-clincher for the Knicks or a series-tying game for the Spurs, meaning the ticket debate is not going away.
