there are a few non-rookie players on the roster that could provide a nice boost if they exceed expectations:

1. Rashad Johnson. Sure looked lost last year. Some guys might need a year to feel comfortable. He would add some nice flexibility if he were able to come in and play a credible centerfield safety.

2. Gabe Watson. After a really nice year 2, has had two years where he struggled with a knee injury. Him simply returning to year 2 form would give the Cards a great two man NT rotation.

3. Ben Patrick. We keep seeing flashes of ability. With Leinart, I expect the TE to be used more.

4. Cody Brown. We still have no idea what he can do.

5. Will Davis. Again, showed some flashes. Interested to see what he can do in year 2.

6. Brandon Keith, the new RT. Wolf has raved about him for two years. I want to see it now.

Yeah I was going to post about why nobody ever mentions Cody Brown.

It is like adding another 2nd round pick to the team this year. Actually should be better prepared.

It could happen but I dont have my hopes up. He tore 80% of his meniscus in the Saints game so the knee is still tender.

I thought it was a 80% mcl tear

a full mcl tear is a 6-8 week injury, so it should be okay by camp

I am curious to see if Dominique Byrd can contribute at all this year.

I am excited to see what we get from all of the guys on your list. Rashad Johnson and Cody Brown intrigue me the most.

I looked it up and it was a MCL tear.

Binkar, you beat me to it. Matt knows Byrd and in last year's preseason he showed me that he could become a good pass catching TE. Looks like he'd be a good safety valve.

Rahsard Johnson living up to expectation would be huge because, unlike most, i'm not the leat bit sold on Kerry Rhodes. Johnson has to come a long way but maybe things will click for him.

Cody Brown and Brandon Keith are the other 2 guys who have to step up and play well this year.

Another guy, who i really don't know about but gets mention from the coahces, is Mark Washington. Maybe he is a guy who can come out of nowhere and make a big impact.

I think all have the potential to have great seasons. I do have my doubts on Watson however. That knee has really been an issue for him.

Of course it will be ready by camp, but there are always lingering effects especially for a big man who is on his second knee problem in two years.

I agree. I dont have a lot of confidence in Watson completely coming back from this to play at 100%. He is a big guy and will have 300+ pound lineman putting a great deal of further pressure on that knee so the chances of him further damaging the knee are higher then with other players playing almost any other position. Furthermore it will be on his mind which could also mean he might not play with complete ease and full concentration, it just doesn't sit well with me.
