Training camp in Latrobe, Pennsylvania, is in its second week, and the energy surrounding the Pittsburgh Steelers is reaching a fever pitch.

Appearing live from camp on "The Pat McAfee Show," Steelers general manager Omar Khan and head coach Mike McCarthy offered fans an insightful look into the franchise’s mindset heading into the upcoming 2026 NFL season.

During the broadcast, host Pat McAfee asked Khan directly about what the team hopes to accomplish this year. Khan did not hesitate to point to the franchise's rich, storied history and relentless commitment to excellence. He emphasized that the ultimate benchmark for success in Pittsburgh has never changed.

"The standard's been set here, so for us, it's just really trying to continue what's been done here before. You know, the six Super Bowl championships, right? And we're trying to get a seventh one and, you know, just really, really trying to stick to the standard that's been set here," Khan stated.

Khan’s candid comments reinforce the unwavering expectation that defines football in Western Pennsylvania. With six Lombardi Trophies already proudly occupying the franchise’s trophy case, anything short of true championship contention is viewed as a disappointment by leadership, players, and the passionate fanbase alike.

By grounding the team's 2026 mission in the legacy established by past legends, Khan made it clear that the organization remains single-mindedly focused on adding another championship ring to the mantle.

It certainly won’t be easy. The Steelers ended 2025 on a sour note with yet another postseason loss. However, with McCarthy on the field and Khan behind the scenes, the Steelers enter the 2026 campaign with clear alignment and lofty ambitions.

As summer practice sessions heat up in Latrobe, the message from leadership is unmistakable: tradition is not just remembered, it is the baseline measure for success. As the squad fine-tunes its schemes and builds crucial team chemistry, Pittsburgh is fully fixated on turning that iconic "standard" into a seventh Super Bowl title this season.
