The skinny on Blake's contract

Len Pasquarelli reports QB Jeff Blake received a three-year, $7.5 million deal from the Arizona Cardinals earlier on Wednesday. His compensation for 2003 is $3.5 million, which represents Blake's signing bonus and base salary. That's nearly double the first-year compensation the Baltimore Ravens were offering him.

I think it was a great bargain, the Cards still have tons of cash to throw at guys, maybe the Cards Front Office is doing it right, excluding the Boston thing

Upgrading our QB position at more than half of what we paid Plummer last year....sounds like bargin shopping to me.

Yeah thats what I thought - I thought Plummer's hit was like 8 mil last year? Thats more than Blake's whole contract!!!

All three of these guys contracts (paid this year...sign bonus plus first year base) will not add up to plummer's cap hit last year.

8.7 million, Blake at 5.2 million less, I think that's a fair trade.

If only we'd kept Boston for Blake to throw to but at this point it's a start.
