It’s April in upstate New York, so as the saying goes, "If you don’t like the weather, just wait a few minutes."

It should be especially true this week when the Rochester Red Wings take on the Worcester Red Sox in a six-game homestand. The Red Wings are off to a slow 3-10 start, but the season is long and Worcester is not much better at this point, going 5-8.

The Red Wings have experienced several weather delays in the early season, with games postponed on April 2, 8, 10, and 12. There’s an outside chance the trend will continue this week.

Tuesday, April 15 vs. Worcester Red Sox, 6:05 p.m.

The National Weather Service forecast calls for a chance of rain before 9 p.m., changing to a chance of rain and snow showers. While temperatures will peak around 51 degrees, it will be breezy with showers and increasing clouds in the afternoon. It’s Half-Price Ticket Tuesdays for the Red Wings and Jackie Robinson Day.

Wednesday, April 16 vs. Worcester Red Sox, 1:05 p.m.

There is a chance of rain and snow showers after noon. Cloudy skies and a high near 40 degrees are expected, though less than a tenth of an inch of precipitation is expected. Breezy conditions will stick around, with gusts as strong as 34 mph.

The Red Wings will almost never postpone a game prior to the gates opening with rain in the forecast. If a game is rained out, it is rescheduled for a doubleheader the next time the teams play, though a tick to a rainout game can be used for any regular season game in the same season.

Friday, April 18 vs. Worcester Red Sox, 1:05 p.m.

The chance of precipitation hovers around 50% during the day on Friday, with a chance of a thunderstorm. If the rain can stay away, temperatures will flirt with 60 degrees, bringing some seasonal warmth.

Saturday, April 19 vs. Worcester Red Sox, 1:05 p.m.

Decreasing clouds and temperatures in the mid-to-lower 50s will break the messy precipitation earlier in the week. The AccuWeather forecast predicts breezy westerly winds, with gusts up to 31 mph. The Red Wings will celebrate Autism Awareness Day.

Sunday, April 20 vs. Worcester Red Sox, 1:05 p.m.

Another pleasant spring day, with an afternoon high around 52 degrees and mostly cloudy skies. Winds will be out of the west-northwest at 15 mph, but no strong gusts and a slim-to-none chance of precipitation for the Easter matchup. It’s also Kids Run the Bases Day.
