Beauden Barrett's admission this week that Eddie Jones has given him a few “little pieces of gold” during training sessions at Suntory Sungoliath has caused quite a stir. Mainly because the England head coach hasn’t been able to stop in to see any of the Gallagher Premiership clubs this season, partly due to Covid-19 restrictions, to offer UK-based players not in the England squad any similar bits of wisdom. With that in mind, here is an up-and-coming player from each Premiership club who was not involved in England's main squad during the recent Six Nations - aside from Northampton scrum-half Alex Mitchell, called up to replace the injured Harry Randall - who the England head coach should check in on in the near future. Miles Reid (Bath) The back-row is getting better with every game for Bath and bound to be a starter next season when Zach Mercer leaves for Montpellier. Reid's physicality sticks out but there are some subtle touches there too, setting Ben Spencer up nicely for a try against Wasps on Sunday. At 22, he's a player for England to monitor. Piers O'Conor (Bristol) A thrilling prospect - whether deployed at inside centre, outside centre or at full-back - who has been a huge part of Bristol's surge to the top of the table this season. Ranks in the top five for metres made, defenders beaten and clean breaks in the Premiership, which highlights how effective he is. England should take a closer look.
