Very good article. It does make you ask the question, where are the Cardinals in this arena?

Can someone point me to the successes of analytics? Billy Beane, the supposed mastermind behind analytics and sabremetrics never won a thing. The Phillies used analytics last season and it was a disaster. I know of no team that has won a championship using this.

Read the article. Philly and New England have some of the most sophisticated analytic divisions in the NFL.

The A’s just won 97 games with the lowest payroll in the league. The Rays, second lowest payroll, finished with 90 wins.

OK, and how many championships? Or is winning a title no longer the goal? Hell, neither team made the playoffs.

The MLB isn't just a fair standpoint, Beane would have won at least 2 titles if he had at least 10-20 Million per year more to pay ..., gosh a better Stadium would have helpd him.

Oakland isn't doing a great job of supporting his teams.

And the Cubs won i think 2 with or because of sabrematics?

Analytics are just another tool in the process.

Cleveland hired an all analytics front office a few years back and look how that worked out.

Yes. They're in the hunt for a playoff spot today with two dynamic young stars who are both 23 years old and $85 million in projected cap space in 2019.

I'd much rather be us.

I presume you are talking about Mayfield and Garrett.

I would also add Nick Chubb and Denzel Ward to that list.

Teams like Oakland and Tampa Bay aren’t contenders. They use analytics to survive because they don’t have finances to pay for talented players yet end up overachieving.

Cleveland was the first I believe to take on bad contracts in order to get prospects and draft picks. It's been done in NBA and baseball for years.

And yes, a blend of analytics and traditional scouting (you need those boots on the ground) is the best process.

Houston, Boston, LA all have pretty extensive analytic departments. Houston and Boston just won world series titles.

So we obviously just need to find a washed up catcher, who can play a little first base (and QB preferably)
