If the Cardinals sign Player X, he's terrible and Monti should be fired immediately for even considering him.

If someone else signs Player X, WHY ARE THE CARDINALS NOT DOING ANYTHING and Monti should be fired immediately.
I'm not complaining at all about who he didn't sign. I'm complaining about who he signed. Total roster spot eaters he's signed. No one of value.
I'd rather go with drafts picks than the guys Monti wasted salary and cap space on.

Hey Mikey, I let Roy walk for 2.5 mill but I resigned him at 5.5 mill.
I've assembled what might be the slowest RB room in the NFL and I signed a backup QB behind our current backup QB.

Really guys?

This is an abomination on every level. You can’t let a guy like Monti Ossenfort pick your next possible franchise QB after today. It is absolutely inexcusable that we will be going into the season with 2 backup QBs and then let him draft anyone in year 4 or 5.

This has been a total joke of an offseason and today was a cherry on top of the crap Sunday.

Wait till you have to watch this product this coming season. It’s going to be laughable.
You didn't answer my question. Who was he supposed to get at QB?

All I see as available options are backups, with the possible exception of Willis. A GM can't make a qb appear with a magic spell.

Willis

He is not a lock but damn you go with guys who are known losers?

That is not a winning attitude for any professional team. MO has never drafted nor brought in via FA a good QB.

At least we have that highlight of him turning a blue chip, all pro Edge that we could have had into a mediocre LT and Darius Robinson and then everyone in the room being blown away by his savvy.

Ok, I would have signed Willis to, but in my opinion he was at best a wild card. Worth taking the chance on because of his potential, but I am far from certain he would have been better than Jacoby.

I guess what I am saying is I don't like not signing him, but I somewhat understand because of the risk and money involved.

I really don't get this thread.

It seemed like at least half the people on this board didn't want Willis.

So who the hell did you all want that this magical GM you are dreaming of to have acquired for a QB?

Keep in mind as you all point out in this thread - AZ is about the last place players want to sign with.

I see a ton of complaining but nobody pointing out what could have been done to fix the QB position.
I think regardless of how one felt about Willis, that would have at least been seen as trying.

Trying to get Garroppolo and failing, only to settle on Minshew of all people, on day freaking one of FA, is laughable. Minshew isn't even going to compete to start, it sounds like, and he broke his leg in week 16. It's a wet fart of a move, even compared to getting like... Kirk Cousins.

If we signed Minshew in April or May after the draft, whatever, but as a day one move... ouch.

And re-upping Conner, then signing Allgeier (who is decent but not exactly inspiring) and shutting the door completely on maybe the best player in the draft is pretty painful.

Like, we're going to take a mediocre guard/RT or an off-ball linebacker at 3? Oh boy.

Ok, I get that. If you are just saying you want some hope I get it.

I think we will trade down to 6,7 or 8 and draft an OT. It's not sexy, but I understand not wanting to use a top 10 pick on a less important position. I really don't want to spend one on a pass rusher that only got 8 sacks in College with the 3rd pick. Or an off ball linebacker that is only being considered that high because of his combine numbers.

Yeah, I might of used the pick on the RB - but I also get not wanting to tie up big money in that position.

Bro we’ve been throwing around names for WEEKS

Trey Lance
Zach Wilson
Anthony Richardson

All of these guys have considerably more upside potential than Gardner Minshew. That there isn’t an alternative to Jacoby Brissett who was 1-11 for this team and 1-4 with the Pats the year before is a clear tell for this franchises intention in 2026.

It’s just a damned shame that Mike LaFleur is going to have to start his head coaching tenure with a roster designed to be non-competitive.

We were thinking about renting Illinois Avenue (Willis), targeted and whiffed at St Charles Place (Jimmy G), didn't even look at Connecticut Avenue (Lance, Richardson, Wilson), and ended up inking a deal with Baltic Avenue (Minshew).

I'm beginning to suspect he's just another clown added to the circus. There had to have been some talk of the off-season plans during the interviews. Any self-respecting coach would have bowed out if this was the blueprint they were provided.

Ah well, maybe we'll have better luck in 2-3 years when this rebuild ends up like the last.

My biggest issue with Monti:

I get no sense of what the plan is.

It feels like he is making it up as he goes along.

It was three years ago the Mike thought the roster didnt need a complete rebuild.

Yet here we are three years later farther away from a SB.

Not like top players want to play for the cardinals. You'd have to def overpay.
