I found The Losers to be watchable (barely) but hugely disappointing. Is it as bad as that? I like the cast enough that if it at least approaches something along the lines of your typical Golan-Globus 80's action flick, I'd probably buy the Blu-Ray.

Steve

i thought the Losers was near unwatchable. The cast is good, they're just not in it enough. It's basically the Stallone/Statham show with a side order of Jet Li and everyone else is sprinkled in at the beginning and the end.

Didn't like it very much. Action Porn isn't enough for me to enjoy a movie. During the non-action scenes I was nearly falling asleep. And even the action scenes were pretty annoying. They were almost all done at night and the people fighting on both sides were wearing dark clothes so a lot of the time it was hard to tell who got shot/stabbed, especially with the fast cuts that Hollywood is so in love with these days.

Stallone said in an interview that Van Damme refused to be in the movie because he thought it would be "inappropriate" to have to lose a fight to Jet Li, and that Segal refused because he didn't "get it" that the movie was half action and half a spoof on themselves....

this movie would have been legendary is they replaced Randy Coutre and Steve Austin with Seagal and Van Damme somehow. It was really missing Sly's other action cohorts. 1 minute of Arnie and Bruce just didn't cut it for me.

Pretty funny from Seagal, since he is in Machete, which is pretty much half action and half spoof...

As inconsistent as Rodriguez has been, I think his and/or Tarantino's sense of humor would have served The Expendables well. I thought it was played TOO straight.

I hate to say it, but I fell asleep during the car chase sequence.

I found this film almost as bad as Tango & Cash.

There were 3 things that I remember about this film two weeks after after having seen it, one of them was just kind of disturbing. Bruce Willis' question to Sly and Arnold, which was just...uncomfortable...and seemed to be for the three principals on screen as well.

man, i don't know if it was played too straight... or just played (and written) too BAD. I mean, one-liners are still fine in action movies... if they're funny. But sticking bad one-liners in the mouth of a guy who can't speak English is only funny unintentionally so. That was the problem with The Expendables. It was trying to be a solid, kick ass action movie... and instead it was like a really big budget, straight to video ****-fest... one i highly enjoyed because of how bad it was, but that's what it was.

Oh, and Seagal's final scene in Machete... just classic.

I even thought it was realistic that Jet Li just didnt demolish his opponent in his fight scenes.. It seemed pretty realistic in that aspect..

My favorite line: "Remember this sh*t at Christmas" .. haha I was rolling.. Dude was mowing down folks..

Yes, she did. After assuming power, she married the son of her strongest rival but got knocked up by one of her bodyguards. It became a huge scandal that eventually led to her being deposed and subsequently charged and eventually executed for crimes she committed as the leader. It was in all the papers, I'm surprised you didn't know about it.

I've got a soft spot for movies with mercenaries and Stallone, so this was a no-brainer for me. Fun time, loved it. I read that #3 is in the works.
