Good morning, Fear the Wall.

Well, BVB have finally lost to a Bundesliga team other than Bayern Munich. Not a huge shock that it should be Bayer Leverkusen. Though their position in the league table may suggest otherwise, they’re still the second best team in the league (other than perhaps Borussia Dortmund). Dortmund in fairness were only undone by a single, long-range strike, but it wasn’t like their performance merited a win anyway.

So that’s that.

BVB News

  • Nico Schlotterbeck received a pretty nasty reception from the Westfalenstadion on Saturday. Some fans are evidently not satisfied with the details of his new contract.
  • Julian Brandt is proving to be a consummate professional about his expiring contract. He noted to the media that he has many ideas for his future, but that they come after his goals at BVB are complete.
  • RB Leipzig may rival BVB for the signature of Jadon Sancho this summer.

League News

  • The Bundesliga welcomed it’s first female head coach in Marie-Louise Eta, who takes over on an interim basis at Union Berlin. Very cool, it would be great to see her succeed and lock down a permanent spot. She is the first female coach in any of Europe’s top 5 leagues.
  • Jamal Musiala was not fond of Oliver Kahn’s advice that he skip the World Cup this summer. Can’t imagine why.
  • Leipzig’s Yan Diomande has caused a stir in the world of Ivorian football by changing his agency.

Seems like we should start hearing some summer transfer rumors soon here…Monsieur Book?
