There have been rumblings since the Buffalo Bills announced the opening of their new stadium that they will not be including O.J. Simpson in their wall of fame, which has sparked numerous conversations about whether Simpson was treated fairly.
Fox host and commentator Rob Parker called the Bills "cowards" for not including Simpson, but are they?
The Bills don't owe Simpson a thing, and here's why. First of all, he hasn't been part of the organization for nearly 50 years, and during that time, he was on some pretty bad teams. When people think of the Bills' legacy, it basically starts and ends with those 90s Bills teams that went to four Super Bowls, not the Juice.
Let's not forget that this man was accused of the double murder of his ex-wife, Nicole, and Ron Goldman, which forever changed his image as the good guy we thought we all knew. Although he was found not guilty of those charges, he was involved in domestic violence with his ex.
There are recordings and several reports of his violent behavior. To top things off, Simpson also spent several years in jail for robbery.
It seems as if some have forgotten that, in the grand scheme of things, OJ Simpson was not a good guy, and the Bills not wanting to honor his legacy is their right. Some will argue that his personal life shouldn't affect his work on the field, but that's not realistic.
To honor Simpson at this point does harm to the people he has hurt in the past and serves no real purpose other than to dredge up all wounds that need to remain buried with him.
