The best player to wear No. 60 for the Broncos started 147 games

Broncos Wire's look at the greatest players to wear each jersey number for the Denver Broncos continues today with former offensive lineman Paul Howard, who wore No. 60.

Howard was picked by the Broncos in the third round of the 1973 NFL draft out of BYU. He went on to spend his entire 14-year career in Denver (missing one season in 1976). Howard dressed for 187 games with the Broncos, earning 147 starts.

Offensive line stats can be hard to find, especially from that era, but Howard is credited with recovering two fumbles. He started all three playoff games in 1977 as the team reached its first Super Bowl in franchise history. The right guard reached the playoffs six times with Denver, starting all eight games he was available.

In 2019, the Broncos celebrated their 100th anniversary by naming a Top 100 team, and Howard made the list, joining Mark Schlereth, Jerry Sturm, Keith Bishop, Chris Kuper and Louis Vasquez at guard. Howard passed away in 2020.
