True. But he wouldn’t have a choice. He’d be getting paid which, let’s face it, was his primary concern since he got drafted.
Give DA credit. He's matured from only wanting $$$ to wanting more responsibility (but he still loves his money)

True but this year everything is frozen with all the KD/Kyrie drama so no one is really spending big money. Tying up cap space doesn’t really do much in this instance.
To make them sweat if nothing else. There's no incentive for the Suns to give the Pacers a quick resolution.

I'm sure he'll be deleting this soon. Put this down as another miss for Flex. He claimed a S&T for Ayton was "inevitable" and now it's off the table.

Teams usually always wait the full 48 hours to match as it ties up the other team's cap space during that time. Bit of FO gamesmanship

This would have been fine if it happened on July 6th but not on July 14th.

They shouldn’t let this drag on. They’ve had almost a full YEAR to make this decision.

Yeah. It's not the wee hours of free agency where it would mess with the Pacers ability to sign FA's to make them wait. Just match and move on.

If the Suns match the offer sheet, Deandre Ayton cannot be traded until January 15th.

Still a win money-wise. DA didn't get the 5 year max or the 8% raises. I imagine Indiana will put some poison pills in the contract though.

Not quite yet. He is going to sign the offer sheet at midnight. There is a very tiny window to work out a sign and trade. Its just highly unlikely at this point (possible but improbable)

Looks like he’s giving the Suns a couple more hours to bend to whatever crappy trade Indy is offering.

This whole off-season is beyond annoying at this point.
If it is a crappy offer, you match it and trade later. Do not let them bully you into taking pennys on the dollar.

yeah, so what's the problem here? the Suns indicated they were open to signing him to 4 years, last year

now they can get that 4 year deal done
looks like a good outcome to me

probably the best outcome

to add: the Suns tested the market, let someone else set the maximum offer
now match, and it will all work out as planned

It looks like the Suns may have been playing checkers instead of chess.

Woj is saying the suns never even made DA an offer
I think they were letting him test the market. Why RFA sucks. The Suns had no motivation to do so. Good way to piss off great players

Obviously, the Pacers think they can do a better job of training Ayton to reach his full potential. The sad thing is that they probably can.
