The San Francisco 49ers selected Carver Willis, the left tackle from Washington. Willis doesn’t fit the 49ers’ typical measurement requirements at tackle. At 6’5″, he’s in the 29th percentile. At 303 pounds, he’s in the 14th percentile. He also has small hands and arm length. So, a guard, perhaps?

Willis started nine games last season for Washington at left tackle. Willis played right tackle in 2024. He allowed two sacks and 20 pressures. PFF gave him an 84.8 run blocking grade and a 66.9 pass blocking grade. Bleacher Report’s Brandon Thorn had this to say about Willis:

Carver Willis is a compact, efficient blocker with good quickness who hits landmarks in the run game on time, plays with leverage and pop, and strains through the whistle. Limited range shows up on an island with below average anchoring ability that signal a move inside as a pro where his technique and quickness project him as quality swing backup/spot starter.

Thorn gave Willis a fourth-round grade.

During his call with the media, Willis said he’s willing to move inside to guard and could even move to center. That’s noteworthy, as Jake Brendel’s a free agent after the 2026 season.
