We are just a few weeks away from training camps opening in the NFL, and several NFC teams have high expectations this year, but should they?
Here are four NFC teams that may need to lower their expectations.
Going into this season, the Giants are expected to compete for not only a playoff spot but also for the NFC East crown. But the Giants could already be in trouble because of the off-the-field controversy involving Jaxson Dart, which had the team briefly split. You have to wonder if that will play a factor throughout the season, plus the team has already been hit with season-ending injuries before fall training camp starts. All of this may factor into the Giants having a bad season.
The Bucs were the best team in the NFC at one point last season, but then it all fell apart. Not only did they lose the division, but they also missed the playoffs. They will also miss a key part of their offense, Mike Evans, who left for the 49ers. Not to mention, they have to deal with the emergence of the Carolina Panthers. And quarterback Baker Mayfield still hasn't signed his new contract, which could end up being a distraction for the team this upcoming season.
The Green Bay Packers may be the favorites to win the division along with the Chicago Bears. Still, they will already be starting the season in the hole without a key part of their defense, Micah Parsons, who won't make his first start until October. It seems that when Parsons got injured at the end of last year, the Pack lost their momentum, especially on defense. Can they fight through this until Parsons comes back, or will it be too late?
Yes, the defending Super Bowl champs also made the list for a few reasons. First, they lost a few key players from last year's team, including Super Bowl MVP Kenneth Walker, to the Kansas City Chiefs. But the biggest factor may have nothing to do with the team, but with the LA Rams coming on fast and strong during the offseason, acquiring Myles Garrett to shore up their defense. As of now, they are the team to beat in the NFC, not the Seahawks.
