I’m not one for conspiracy theories, but when the dodgers are able to get one of the best pitchers in baseball for a bag of sunflower seeds, then it’s fair to ask questions

This is one where the league should reject the trade. They won't since MLB never does but Skubel for a good outfield prospect and two complete scrubs is a joke. One of the pitchers has already blown out his elbow and the other is 0-10.

Sellers control the trade market. They can ask for whatever they want because there are so many buyers. For example, Ryan Waldschmidt has been in just about every ask in trade discussion the Diamondbacks have had. And the Dbacks aren't trading him. What you hope for is as the deadline approaches the ask price is reduced.

Alec Burleson
Clay Holmes
Lars Nootbaar
Can't rule out Nathaniel Lowe but I think much lower interest.
Could be another player or two that I am unaware of.

I know everyone wants deals I get it I do but Diamondbacks are in a much different situation than other contenders. At some point -some sooner rather then later - the Diamondbacks will get Lawlar. Gurriel ,Troy, Soroka, Burnes, Martinez and Nelson all back from IL - none of them will cost the team any prospects or MLB players.

Expecting injured players to come back, contribute and stay healthy is a great way to get fired. Some of these dudes has serious injuries, not just minor issues needing rest and rehab.

But all we hear each year is that someone coming off the IL is better than a trade. Sound familiar? And no one gets fired.
