How bout instead of an auto strike zone there’s just a MLB guy watching like replay that can overturn egregious balls/strike calls on the spot. It doesn’t take away the human element but would flip bad calls and take 2 seconds. And because it’s a booth type review the players/managers couldn’t argue with the on-field umps.
