The Phoenix Mercury beat the Las Vegas Aces on the road, 76-70, to start a four game road trip.

They are now 8-4.

They would not have won these type of games last year. GM Nick Uren has built around one player, and it has been very successful so far.

I don't often get a chance to watch Mercury games, but I did this one.

The poor shooting by both teams caught me off guard, although the Mercury plays good defense.

Last season teams were just rushing at the Mercury on defense and making them turn the ball over a lot. Teams were more physical. In one season, we are now the aggressors. It was great to see someone was watching and figured out the type of players we needed to play like the better teams.

This might be of interest. DeWanna Bonner has no interest in playing for the Fever.

Phoenix is one of her preferred destinations.

Mercury beat the defending champions Liberty a second time this year. Btw, does anyone else think the team is playing better because Griner and Diana are no longer here? Diana was passed her prime and Griner was a distraction.

You had that element, but also, the whole team was slow and not athletic. The GM got rid of everyone except Copper and remade the whole team, mostly younger, but bigger and more athletic all around. It's a completely different team.
